As we have always maintained, the only secure form of document identification is that which cannot be removed from the document. A rubber stamp in the margin or a watermark is easily removed from a document. Evidence of that came about today while reading a current scanner review on the Epson GT-S50 Document Scanner on Amazon. In that review the author notes — for the world to see — that the Epson has the ability to drop out color so it is useful for “removing ‘confidential’ or ‘top secret’ stamps from a borrowed document.” And the “paperless office” was supposed to be the solution to the problem….
How true … but not with a stamp that is imbedded in the text of a documenht.
